Full description

Probert, S. + Fletcher, M. + Newman, P., 1998, Willsworthy Training Area, Peter Tavy, Devon: An Archaeological survey by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (Report - Survey). SDV350638.

(02/08/1998) Centred SX 53098286. Approximately 0.6ha of abandoned, probably post-medieval or later, field system containing lazy beds lie at the foot of White Hill immediately N of Yellowmead. The three small enclosures are bounded by a combination of substantial turf and stone banks and three leats that traverse the area. The fields appear to be too small to contain livestock and probably form a small garden. This is attested to by the presence of a well-defined patch of lazy beds, short ridges 1.5m to 2.0m wide and 0.2m high, in the S field.

(23/01/2001) This small field system remains as described.
