Summary
Remains of a medieval or later tinner's hut situated on the north scarp of the Avon Head tin streamworks. An archaeological field survey in 1995 recorded a rectangular building measuring 6.6 metres by 2.4 metres, with walls surviving to a maximum height of 0.5 metres. A possible entrance was recorded in the east wall.

Full description
Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1993-1998, Dartmoor Royal Forest Project (Report - Survey). SDV346608.
(11/10/1995) SX 64966963. A rectangular tinners hut sited on the north scarp of the Avon Head tin streamworks (Monument HOB UID 1063693). The internal dimensions are 6.6m by 2.4m. The walls are mostly tumbled though survive to a height of 0.5m in places, and several large boulders are incorporated into the remaining fabric. A breach in the east wall probably represents a former entrance.
