Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1993-1998, Dartmoor Royal Forest Project, S. Probert (Report - Survey). SDV346608.

(01/11/1994) SX 61236858 to SX 61076854. Fragments of a former leat channel run roughly E to W on the floodplain above the right bank of the River Plym some 400m E of Wheal Katherine (SX 66 NW 128). The feature probably carried water from a small tributary of the Plym to the workings at Wheal Katherine and it remains as a silted channel 1.2m wide and a maximum of 0.35m deep. Its W end has been disturbed and it is not clear whether it supplied a large opencast working centred at SX 61026852 or a wheel pit at SX 61036849.

Newman, P., 1999, Eylesbarrow (Ailsborough) Tin Mine (Report - Survey). SDV352201.
