Possible prehistoric enclosure c.1 km south-south-west of Crockernwell identified from Google Earth 2020 aerial photograph; site visible as a dark cropmark.
The enclosure is c. 0.42 km east of Narracott House, partly on a level ridge overlooking a stream to the south. The enclosure is made of two components: a northern set of three, roughly straight-sided, cropmark ditches forming an upside down bowl. The northern side is c. 35 m long and is flanked either side by ditches c. 30 m long. The open, southern end of this inverted bowl structure is closed by a single curved (almost semi-circular) c. 66 m long ditch. The northern inverted bowl is on level ground while the southern curved ditch is on a slope down to the stream to the south (hidden by trees in the image above). Maximum elevation in the north is c.152 m sloping southwards down to c.149 m. The enclosure length N-S is c.148 m, 150 m E-W and encloses an area of c.0.2 hectares. The ditch cropmark width is c. 2.5 m.
