Full description
Berry, N. + Simmonds, T., 1996, An Archaeological Survey of Boro Wood (SX7571), Erme Wood (SX6357), Wistmans Wood (SX6177) and Newpark Waste (SX5961), BW11 (Report - Survey). SDV360518.
SX 75297163 Surface quarries with spoil. Second series of complex surface excavations and spoil heaps extending 10m east-west and 20-25m north-south, the southern limit defined by its junction with holloway BW09, which also serves to define the eastern edge of workings. Two large spoil heaps are contained within this area, 4.5m by 2.5m by 1m and 6m by 4m by 1m respectively. The excavations themselves cut into east-facing lower slopes, creating platforms or bays with an average depth of 1.5 - 2m. Present condition good, not under immediate threat.
