Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments, 855 (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Large L-shaped outbuilding depicted on the Tithe Map south-west of the farmhouse at Higher Jurston farm, adjacent to the road.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The late 19th century historic map shows the barn has been altered by this time; the building appears to have been reduced in size but retain its south-western end; it is still L-shaped, but is now inverted with the building extending to the north. A semi-circular horse engine house has been added to the rear (west) face of the building.

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

Unchanged on the early 20th century historic map depiction.

Ordnance Survey, 2022, Mastermap 2022 (Cartographic). SDV364674.

Modern mapping shows the barn appears unchanged since the late 19th century map depiction. Sales details of exterior of building show a substantial, two storey stone barn with corrugated iron roof with four entrances on the eastern face; three at ground level and a fourth, accessed by stone staircase to upper level. Horse engine house, also roofed with corrugated iron, also shown.
