Dartmoor National Park Authority, 2005, Archaeology within Town Wood, 1 (Report - Survey). SDV365028.

SX 71567320 Charcoal burner's platform in good condition.
The presence of the two charcoal burner’s platforms indicates that the woodland had been managed in the past. A new platform was identified during the survey. This survives in a reasonable condition and is free of vegetation.
The charcoal platforms should be kept free of invasive scrub and tree growth. They are important in the local context of the wood.
