Summary

On the slope above the mine shaft at the Queen of the Dart Mine is a possible prospecting pit. The feature survives as a slight depression cut into the natural slope with a spoil heap on the down slope side. The spoil heap is composed of broken fragments of shillet and measures 3m in length and 1.5m in width. There is a possibility that this feature might be a mine shaft.

SX 735 688 Prospecting pit.
On the slope above the mine shaft at the Queen of the Dart Mine is a possible prospecting pit. The feature survives as a slight depression cut into the natural slope with a spoil heap on the down slope side. The spoil heap is composed of broken fragments of shillet and measures 3m in length and 1.5m in width.
There is a possibility that this feature might be a mine shaft. Care should be taken to avoid this area with machinery during forestry operations.
