Summary

Shaft recorded during walkover survey in October 2005 associated with Holne Park Mine (later South Park Mine). A circular depression 5m in diameter and 2m deep that was probably a ventilation shaft for the underground workings. Down slope of the shaft is the spoil heap of excavated material.

Shaft at SX 733694. A circular depression 5m in diameter and 2m deep that was probably a ventilation shaft for the underground workings. Down slope of the shaft is the spoil heap of excavated material.
The shaft is important in the local context and should be excluded from areas of new planting. Care should be taken when carrying out forestry operations around the shaft.
