Full description

Quarry, Oak Hill. Extant. Started 1911. Roadstone (machinery driven by wheel of Crackhills Canvas Mill).
Visited March 1978. This quarry is on the left bank of the River Avon above Lydia Bridge; the site was originally a field called 'Clay Balls' (Tithe Apportionment 1843 South Brent).
It is large with a flat floor and with several ruinous stone built engine beds etc. It is one of the last quarries to have been opened in the parish, being started in 1911 as a commercial roadstone undertaking.
