Summary

A pillow mound on the south-west side of Shipley Tor. It is aligned with the slope and measures 8.0m by 3.5m and is 1.0m high with a ditch 1.0m wide and 0.3m deep around all but the lower side.

Des=parish checklist. Check Robinson's NGR: historically this record was placed at SX 68306399, which seems to have been a typo [Richards, A. f., 21/01/2022]. Pillow mound, shipley. Extant (checklist). Vis=-/10/1977 (robinson) a rabbit bury or pillow mound in os 339 tithe map no.60, measuring 5m x 8m height 1.5m. This traditionally served shipley farm (information from present owners) and was not a "commercial" warren. This is a plain regular grass covered mound. No others are in the immediate vicinity.

(26/07/1979) SX 68306299 On the south west slope of Shipley Tor at 240.0m OD, in thick bracken, is a pillow mound found during field investigation. It is aligned with the slope and measures 8.0m by 3.5m and is 1.0m high with a ditch 1.0m wide and 0.3m deep around all but the lower side.
Surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD.
