Full description

(Found 2014) A Post Medieval copper-alloy buckle frame fragment of a sub-rectangular shoe or knee buckle (c. AD 1720 to AD 1790). The fragment represents the corner of the buckle frame i.e.: one outer edge and a small portion of the side of the frame. The buckle frame is convex at the front and is flat at on the reverse. The outer edge is stepped towards the middle surface. The front of the frame has a moulded floral decoration. The surface has a light green patina and bears traces of gilding in some places.
