HER Number:MDV13396
Name:TROUGH in the Parish of South Brent

Summary

Granite trough, dockwell. Extant. Vis=-/5/1978 (robinson, r. ). This partly worked trough was observed by mr j dance of dockwell when field clearing nearby (site uncertain) and put aside by the edge of the path out to the dockwell moor gate, in the wide area to the south of the old track from dockwell to yalland. It lies on the east side close to piles of cleared stones. It is a large roughly rectangular granite boulder (120 x 70 x 50cm approx). The top has been worked to the extent of pecked grooves parallel to the edges and 10-15cm from them, obviously a very early stage in the shaping of a trough which for some reason was abandoned. No visible faults or fractures are evident.
