Full description

British Museum, 2023, Portable Antiquities Scheme, 2023, DEV-81CAF1 (Website). SDV365320.

(Found 2019) A cast copper alloy fish hook, possibly converted from a fragment of a buckle, dating to the post medieval period, c. 1600-1750. The object consists of a flattened shank, which appears rectangular in cross section, which curves smoothly and gently before abruptly rearing upwards at an almost 90 degree angle to create the hook. Measurements: 32.3mm in length, 2.6mm width, 2.3mm thick, weight 1.65g. Retained by finder. See record for full detail.
