Summary
A circular anomaly, circa 10m diameter, was recorded during a geophysical survey carried out on land to the west of Chard Road on the north-east edge of Axminster. It may be a ring ditch, possibly a round house, but it has no apparent entrance. Its location next to an ancient highway and post medieval turnpike road may indicate that it is a possible roadside structure.

Full description
Edwards, M. + Trick, S., 2021, Land West of Chard Road, Axminster: an archaeological magnetometer survey (Report - Survey). SDV365421.
A circular anomaly, circa 10m diameter, was recorded during a geophysical survey carried out over three fields to the west of Chard Road on the north-east edge of Axminster, in advance of a planning application.
The anomaly may represent a ring ditch, possibly a round house, but it has no apparent entrance. Its location next to an ancient highway and post medieval turnpike road may indicate that it is a possible roadside structure.
