Summary
One of a pair of hut circles located within an area of streamworking to the east of Southerly Down; hut stands isolated on an island-like area among the streamworking remains. Interior is roughly level and dimeter measures approximately 5.5 metres. The other hut lies to the south-west, at a distance of 75 metres.

Full description

(One of two previously unrecorded huts first observed in 2007 when walking across the streamworks. GPS location and photos recorded on 15/09/2012 & 06/06/2023)
Hut 1. SX 54520.0 88074.2 Clear and distinct intact remains of hut circle sited on an island-like area amongst streamworking remains. Several slab-like granite stones protrude above turf (0.6 – 0.4m). Wall is about 1.5m thick and appears to be double-walled. Interior is fairly level and 5.5m in diameter. Using DEM it appears to be 9m in circumference. Visible on LiDAR there appears to be a second hut at SX 54441.3 88044.6.
Solitary hut circles are unusual. Similar siting to the 12 hut circles of the nearby settlement (MDV51429).
