Visited on 10th April 1997. At SX6554 9044. Cairn. Diameter 7.0 metres, height 0.6 metres. Field boundary appears to overlie the cairn. On the north-east side the mound has been eroded exposing what may the remnants of a kerb of relatively small stones.

Butler, J., 1991, Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities: Volume Two - The North, 198, Map 39, 243, Figure 39.1 (Monograph). SDV219155.

Throwleigh Common cairn '5' of 7.4 metres diameter by 0.3 metres high. On the other side of the hill, out of sight of the settlement on Trowleigh Common but still within its boundaries, is a cairn cemetery which may well have been the burial ground for the hut dwellers. This southern cairn is located in a square field on the north side of the 'leat' to the west of the settlement.

English Heritage, 2005-2008, Prehistoric Survey Information (Cartographic). SDV345521.

Cairn shown on survey to the south-west.

Cartographic Engineering, 2006, Dartmoor 2006 1:1250 Aerial Photography (digital) (Aerial Photograph). SDV345590.

(30/05/2007) A number of mounds exist within the reave system on Throwleigh Common. Some are probably the result of clearance in this very stony terrain.
