Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

House depicted. Recorded on the Exeter St Thomas Tithe Apportionment as a house and garden (Plot 422), occupied by George Cole, part of the Little Barley Estate.

House and garden depicted on the west side of the road, opposite Higher Barley.

The house of George Cole, who farmed 20 acres in the mid-19th century, was located here.
It may have been the farmhouse of Higher Barley, perhaps one of the four farms referred to in
the 1586 survey. The site is now occupied by the garden of Quarries View.
