SX 55433 73756. Siding in cutting measuring about 4.5m in width (at its base). The sides of the cutting are turf covered slopes. The northwest end of the siding (at SX 55433 73756) is vertical and about 1.5m in height. Two pairs of vertical wooden posts are inserted into the stone facing along the terminal end of the siding. They are probably the remains of a wooden buffer stop. These posts range from 7.5cm to 11cm in thickness. The southwest pair are 0.23m apart and about 2.2m in from the corner, whilst the northeast pair are 0.28m apart and about 1.7m in from the other corner. This leaves a 1m gap between the two pairs. The highest post survives to a height of 1.7m. The dry stone facing into which they are set is about 0.3m deep. The cutting appears to have slightly truncated the western side of a stretch of the old Plymouth and Dartmoor Railway track bed (see DR+T_PDR_002). The siding first appears on the first edition Ordnance Survey map (surveyed 1883).
Condition is generally poor: the wooden posts are rotting and the stonework along the northwest end has partly collapsed in the past. Otherwise it is reasonably stable at present.
