SX 56288 72474. Granite-built bridge over the Princetown Branch, giving access from the main part of Walkhampton Common to the fenced-off section to the south of Criptor and Yestor. The bridge has a wide segmental arched interior measuring 5.1m in width (northwest-southeast) and 4.6m in length/depth (northeast-southwest). Internally, it is 3.57m in height to the shoulders of the arch and c.4.5m to the apex. The bridge's 1.4m tall, and c.0.6m thick, parapet is intact and overall the bridge is about 6.5m in height. There are wide, thin buttresses on either side of the arched opening (on both faces). The stonework is bonded with a greyish white lime mortar. A metal bracket, possibly for a lamp or lantern is mounted on the southernmost corner, just under the shoulder of the arch. Defunct rusty iron/steel straining posts (of T-shaped profile) are located at each outer corner of the parapet, presumably left over from the original Great Western Railway fencing along the railway.
The bridge is generally in a fair-good condition, with all its masonry in place. The mortar pointing is in quite a poor state. Perhaps about 50% may be missing or defective.
