[DR+T_GWRP_070] Drain at SX 55201 71251. Stone-lined and stone-faced (granite) drain running SSE-NNW under the Princetown Branch track bed. The interior of the drain is 0.51m wide and 0.4m high (as measured on the higher side) and it is c.8m in length. The interior is covered in small stone rubble, possibly from track bed ballast. The higher (SSE) opening of the drain is located at the westernmost end of an c.0.8m wide drainage ditch/gutter which runs parallel to the track bed (c.0.8m distant). A small granite lintel has been laid across the narrow gutter leading from the lower side of the drain. It is c.0.3m from the drain's mouth, which leaves the latter quite visible.
The drain is in a fair condition. The interior is in good condition, but vegetation is encroaching on both openings. The higher opening has a thick layer of turf built up against it and there is a gorse bush encroaching on the gutter at the lower end.
[DR+T_GWRP_071] Drain at SX 55177 71236. Stone-faced drain running SSE-NNW under the Princetown Branch track bed, measuring c.6.4m in length. It is lined with a 0.34m diameter ceramic pipe. The higher (SSE) opening of the drain conveys water from a c.0.6m wide drainage ditch/gutter which runs parallel to the track bed. A piece of granite (measuring 0.46m x c.0.8m x 0.2m deep) has been laid across the narrow gutter leading from the lower side of the drain. There is only 0.15m clearance beneath the stone, which has been laid in a bridge-like fashion, c.1.1m from the drain's mouth. It is not entirely clear if the ceramic pipe was added to an older drain as part of a repair, or whether this drain was an entirely later addition to the Princetown Branch.
The drain appears to be in generally fair condition, although the stonework at the lower opening is looking a little precarious.
