Name:Drain under railway trackbed, Walkhampton Common

Summary

Drain running south-south-east by north-north-west under the Princetown Branch track bed, measuring c.6.m in length. It is lined with an c.0.30m diameter reddish-brown ceramic pipe. The higher (south-south-east) opening of the drain conveys water from a drainage ditch or gutter which runs parallel to the track bed. The lower end of the drain opens out into a 0.35m wide stone-faced open channel. The channel is c.1.7m in length and c.0.5m deep. The drain appears to be in a fairly good condition.

SX 55007 71141. Drain running SSE-NNW under the Princetown Branch track bed, measuring c.6.m in length. It is lined with an c.0.30m diameter reddish-brown ceramic pipe. The higher (SSE) opening of the drain conveys water from a drainage ditch/gutter which runs parallel to the track bed. The lower end of the drain opens out into a 0.35m wide stone-faced open channel. The channel is c.1.7m in length and c.0.5m deep.
The drain appears to be in a fairly good condition.
