Name:Drain under railway trackbed, Walkhampton

Summary

Southwest-northeast aligned drain, of c.5.25m length, under the Princetown Branch track bed. Its higher (southwest) face is brick dressed and it has two short, 0.23m thick brick wing walls. The wing walls splay out from 0.6m to c.0.95m apart. The ceiling of the drain is little more than 0.4m below the track bed surface and the interior has been fitted with an orange-brown glazed ceramic pipe.

SX 56147 73579. Southwest-northeast aligned drain, of c.5.25m length, under the Princetown Branch track bed. Its higher (southwest) face is brick dressed and it has two short, 0.23m thick brick wing walls. The wing walls splay out from 0.6m to c.0.95m apart. The ceiling of the drain is little more than 0.4m below the track bed surface and the interior has been fitted with an orange-brown glazed ceramic pipe.
The lower end of the drain has been deliberately blocked up and the higher end of the drain is partly obscured. The interior is strewn with rubble.
