Summary

Milestone located just below the sign post on the north side of the road (B3220). It was set up c.1835 when a new road was built to Exeter by the Great Torrington Turnpike Trust. The stone is broken and missing its inscription which should read '19/Miles/Exon and 15/Miles/Torrington'.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Milestone (M.S.) marked, Torrington 15 miles, Exeter 19 miles.

Site visit 6th February 2012. Milestone at the junction with the lane to Brushford. Located just below the sign post on the north side of the road (B3220). It was set up c.1835 when a new road was built to Exeter by the Great Torrington Turnpike Trust.
The stone is broken and missing its inscription which should read '19/Miles/Exon and 15/Miles/Torrington'.
