Summary

Site of a dwelling depicted on the 19th century Tithe Map. The house, which was about 335m east of Weir Marsh Farm, was built alongside a stream flowing south-north under the road. Now the site of a yard with a large, agricultural building to the south.

Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Plot 481 is recorded as a house, garden etc on the High Bickington Tithe Apportionment, occupied by Henry Crocker. The adjoining road side plot (482) is recorded as an orchard and that to the south (483) is named as 'Little field above the house'.

A large house is depicted with a garden to the south and adjoining the road to the north (Plot 481).

The former entranceway to the house shown on the Tithe Map is still extant, as is part of the garden but the house itself has gone and the grounds are all part of the orchard.
