Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

An L-shaped barn with a yard behind is shown on the Tithe Map (part of Plot 597).

PCA Consulting Engineers, 2022, Barn at Newton Downs Farm. Limited structural report (Report - Survey). SDV365931.

A structural survey undertaken of four barns in support of a planning application for conversion showed that the buildings are generally in a poor to fair condition.
The principal building (1) is two storey, gable-ended stone barn, the main elevation of which faces south-east onto a yard with a central doorway and another opening to the north-east. A former opening above the central doorway is now infilled with concrete block. The roof, which was of corrugated metal sheets, supported on A-frame timber trusses, has collapsed. Adjoining the north-west side of the barn is a single storey modern, concrete blockwork lean-to.
Opposite the barn is a modern single storey, steel-framed open-fronted building with a corrugated single pitch roof (Building 4). It is set within a stone wall which is possibly the remains of an earlier building. Between Buildings 1 and 4 is a single storey modern concrete blockwork building with a single pitch roof.

Ordnance Survey, 2024, Mastermap 2024 (Cartographic). SDV365834.

Group of buildings shown on the east side of the lane.
