Summary

A group of clearance cairns were identified and recorded during 1994 walkover survey of Canonteign Woods. Sometimes massive (many over 15m in length), these are made up of piles of natural stones and occasionally covered with moss and ivy.

(March 1994) The whole sector (P1) is littered with sometimes massive (many over 15m in length) clearance cairns identified and recorded during 1994 walkover survey of Canonteign Woods. Made up of piles of natural stones and occasionally covered with moss and ivy.

Circular features visible on the lidar data. A trackway now cuts through this field parcel and has disrupted some of the features notedd in 1994.
