South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

The name of the adjoining plot (1029a) is recorded as Turnpike House etc.

The Tithe Map depicts a small building in this location together with a gate across the road.

Toll house now Vicarage Lodge. Thought to have been built in the 19th century for the South Molton Turnpike Trust. A two storey house with mainly rendered walls under a gabled slate roof with an ornate barge board and two chimneys on one side. It hasa prominent porch and a bay window on the gable [roadside] end.
