Summary

The lane leads towards three fields called 'Catwell' on the Georgeham Tithe Apportionment (Plots 1104, 1017 and 1120).

An assessment including a walkover survey was undertaken as part of an environmental assessment for the proposed location for the Croyde Sewage Treatment Works. The route of Catwell Lane has largely been absorbed into the boundary of a holiday centre, but parts of the original trackway may survive. The 'well' place name is indicative of the number of springs and issues that rise in the vicinity.
