Kicking stones were to prevent damage to a building from the iron-rimmed wheels of vehicles.

The Old Inn. A rendered and painted building fronting the road. It has a central doorway with classical-style pilasters on either side supporting a flat architrave. On either side of the doorway is an inset sash window and three sash windows above, on the first floor. There are three distinctive, white painted, kicking stones along the front to protect the base plinth of the front wall.
