Full description
Robinson, R., 1977-1979, South Brent Parish Checklist Worksheets (Worksheet). SDV340722.
Site visited in April 1978. Granite weight at Gisperdown. Extant. Probably 1 hundredweight. A rough granite weight found at Gisperdown supporting a threshing floor in a barn, while renewing the floor. It can only be described as pumpkin shaped. A flattened sphere is the nearest approximation to its shape. At the top is a roughly circular hole approx 6 centimetres width and depth, presumably for a ring to be inserted but with no trace of leading. Height 26 centimetres, diameter 38 centimetres crudely dressed in coarsely grained granite. Very heavy, perhaps one hundredweight.
