Extensive linear and curvilinear ditches are identifiable under Goilmoors Plantation. These are largely interpreted as drains although some may be remains of former tracks.

Walkover survey, under conditions of recent felling and subsequent obscuring of the ground by debris, identified extensive linear and curvilinear ditches under Goilmoors Plantation. These are largely interpreted as drains although some may be remains of former tracks. The western northeast-southwest aligned earthwork is a field boundary depicted on the OS maps; however, it extends further south, beyond the ornamental canal, than recorded on the maps. It comprises a bank with a large ditch on its east side. To the west, the track recorded on the maps is still used. The boundary pre-dates the ornamental canal. All other features are located on the flat floodplain of the Ventiford Brook. A pair of curving drainage ditches to the east of the boundary drain west into the ditch of the field boundary, although the east end of the larger, northern ditch also currently drains east into the channel along the north-eastern boundary of the woodland. The northern, east-west aligned feature is another ditch that cuts cross the field boundary. Most other features to the north of the large ditches were not identified due to dense vegetation in unthinned parts of the woodland, although one earthwork was identified as a track
