Summary

The cider house is the only surviving building on the west side of the lane of what seems to have been a large model farmstead dating from 1949. The other buildings that formerly stood here have been replaced by modern structures.
It was built to take advantage of the sloping land by having a loft approached from the higher ground to the rear. It is built of rubble stone with a relatively modern slate roof. Inconsistencies in the thickness of the walls suggest that it may incorporate parts of a pre 1849 structure.
The ground floor contains a complete set of cider making machinery including a single screw press, an apple crusher at first floor level and the horse engine for driving the crusher.
