Summary

A thatched farmhouse which dates to the 17th century forms the north-eastern corner of a farmyard which is enclosed by buildings on its north and west sides. There is also a single building on the east side which is otherwise open. There was formerly another buildings on the south side of the yard but this has now gone.

Woodroberts is shown as an L-shaped range of buildings around the north and west sides of a farmyard, with the farmhouse at the north-eastern corner. A further range of buildings is depicted to the south-west of the main farmyard.

Comparison with the Tithe Map shows the addition of several buildings including those on the south and east sides of the yard. The range of buildings to the south-west of the farmyard is not shown.

The farmhouse is an attractive thatched building, perhaps dating from the late 17th century. It occupies the north-east corner of a large rectangular farmyard which is enclosed by continuus buildings extending along its north side from the west side of the house, down its west side and half way across its south side. There is a small pigsty which marks the eastern side of the yard which is otherwise now open to the south-east.
It appears that the farmstead was extensively rebuilt and reordered around the middle of the 19th century with the cattle housing on the south side of the yard then being new built.
The building on the north side of the yard adjacent to the house is a lofted animal house, its cob walls raised in blockwork under an asbestos sheeting roof. This links to a large corn barn which forms the northern part of the west side of the farmyard. This is an older building which was altered and enlarged in the 19th century when its king post roof trusses were added. The back wall appears to have been rebuilt in stone but the existing front wall was raised in new cob. To the rear of the upper end of the barn is a horse engine house the roof of which is clad in Bridgwater double Roman tiles. To the south of the barn is a lower lofted animal house which links to the south range which is a new construction of the mid 19th century. This is a large, lofted cow house which originally had two wide openings facing the yard at the eastern end. It is built of local rubble stone under a Turnerised slate roof, supported on king post trusses.

Only the buildings on the west and north sides of the farmyard, together with the single building on the east side, are shown suggesting that the cow house which once stood along the south side has gone.
