Summary

Farmstead depicted on the Tithe Map. It was subsequently altered, the 1880s-1890s Ordnance Survey map showing a larger farmhouse and a courtyard range of farmbuildings. The farmbuildings are now residential dwellings.

Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

A group of buildings is shown on the Tithe Map. Recorded on the Bideford Tithe Apportionment (Plot 1189) as House and Court, owned by James Jones Reynolds and occupied by John Atkins.

Farmstead marked as Lower Winsford. Comparison with the Tithe Map shows the farmhouse to have been expanded or rebuilt as a much larger structure and the farmbuildings to have been replaced by ranges of buildings around a courtyard, with a detached linhay on the north-west side. A well (W) is marked on the east side of the driveway.
