The map shows that a guide post formerly stood on the west side of the road heading north.

Site visit 28th August 2006. Iron signpost at Bassett's Cross, in front of the granite cross. The post which dates from 1920-40 is inscribed 'Bassett's Cross' in black raised letters on a white background. All the arms are missing and it has no finial.
