Child, P., Undated, Westacott Barton - Farm Valuer's Report (Un-published). SDV366958.
The main focus of the 1915 valuer's report was to assess the value of the property for the purposes of Estate Duty. However, as part of this process the report also contains some recent history of the farmstead and a brief description of the buildings.
The L-shaped barn is shown as buildings K and L on a sketch plan. What is now the stable-room and 'duck house' is recorded as a large stable (K) with six stalls and a loft over. It was built of stone and cob with a thatched roof and said to be in moderate condition. The rest of the L-shaped barn (L) was used as a root house and bullocks house. This was of timber, stone and cob construction and was also in moderate condition.
The open area of cobbles to the south of the southern gable of the barn is recorded as being two pigs houses (J), built of stone and cob with slate roofs, again in moderate condition.
