Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The leat to Ford Mill is depicted running south from a bend in the stream on the north side of Alder Plot (Plot 1603) to the eastern of the two ponds by the mill. The headrace to the mill from the western pond and the tailrace back to the stream are also faintly on the north side of the mill buildings. How the two ponds were linked though is not clear.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Leat depicted but not marked as such. There was a spillway from the leat back to the stream at the southern end of the woodland. The headrace and tailrace are also shown but as with the Tithe Map, the link between the two ponds is not clear.

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

Leat, head and tail races depicted.

Ordnance Survey, 2026, Mastermap 2026 (Cartographic). SDV366713.

Only the very northern end of the leat is still extant but the line of the southern portion is followed by a field boundary.
