Full description
Robinson, R., 1977-1979, South Brent Parish Checklist (Worksheet). SDV151046.
(1979) Immediately NW of the site of the old Lower Beara farmhouse, in an area of scrub (once orchard) a terrace runs along the contour. It is more pronounced than the other faint terraces or 'steps' on the SE face of Brent Hill. It is possible that they may all be of geological origin or a feature of periglacial step weathering. On the other hand if they are man made strip lynchets this may be better preserved because this is a particularly steep part of the hillside that has not been the subject of later cultivation. Measurement approx 10m wide.
