Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The Tithe Map shows a building here, inside the plot marked 178; building is 177 on the apportionment.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The late 19th century historic map shows the remains of a building at this location, which appears to be becoming overgrown by Higher Thynacombe Wood.

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

Not depicted on the early 20th century historic map.

Gover, J. E. B. + Mawer, A. + Stenton, F. M., 1932, The Place-Names of Devon: Part Two, 292 (Monograph). SDV337894.

Thynacombe Barn is 'Thenacombe' in 1284, 'Thynna-' in 1560.

Robinson, R., 1977-1979, South Brent Parish Checklist (Worksheet). SDV151046.

The present Thinnacombes barn (Ordnance Survey 6 inch historic map) has all the appearance of being an 18th century linhay with no earlier traces. This does however lie on a green lane whereas the site under discussion has no clear access. It may have been 'walled in' or falling into disrepair and is now under trees whereas it was in a clear enclosure at the time of the Tithe Map.

Greeves, T. A. P., 1980, Building in Thynacombe Wood, Visited 11/1/1980 (Worksheet). SDV162237.

Thynacombe Wood. Ruined rectangular structure apparently of drystone granite. First shown to Greeves by Rosemary Robinson who has recorded it in the parish checklist of South Brent. May be connected with the 'Thynacombe' mentioned in 1284.
