Building (plot 943) recorded as Turnpike House on the Dartington Tithe Apportionment.

A small, square building is marked on the Tithe Map together with the line of the gate across the road.

Building not shown, although a small building is depicted a little too the north, opposite Copeland Lane.

There is a toll house on the Ashburton Road, a mile from Totnes (Sheldon 1936)

Collapsed small beehive shaped stone built toll booth at the foot of Barracks Hill. It would have been on the 1763 turnpike road to Dean Prior. The road is still there as well. Map object also based on this source.
