Greeves, T. A. P., 1981, Charcoal burner's hearth, Holne (Worksheet). SDV164348.
(11/03/1981) SX 71887185. Circular banked earthwork enclosure on level ground between the track and river. Maximum external diameter measures 11m. Bank approximately 1m high on inside (0.5m on outside), 3m wide. The interior is slightly sunken.
The roots of an upturned tree on the west side showed the soil to consist largely of black material and charcoal, hence the interpretation.
