Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Site of 'Moorbarn' shown on the late 19th century (1880s) map as a small rectangular building in an irregular shaped yard with a further long narrow building to the north-west at SX 78728392.

Greeves, T. A. P., 1980, Moorbarn mill (Worksheet). SDV301601.

(5/09/1980) A rectangular granite mill structure of mortared stone with wheelpit at east end (wheelpit length 8m, internal width 1.2m). A short distance north is a well preserved millpond, partly stone lined, lying east-north-east by west-south-west, now dry. Both mill and pond shown on early and mid-20th century (1906, 1963) historic maps, where it is referred to as 'Moorbarn'. There is now no trace of a leat, and one is not shown in 1906. It seems likely that this is a 19th century mill for an agricultural purpose.

Bodman, M., 2015, Mills on the Teign. A gazetteer of water-powered sites on the Teign and Bovey and their tributaries, 32 (Monograph). SDV360401.

Moorbarn, Moor Barton, Moretonhampstead SX 7878 8388. Brief details given; Moor Barton was acquired by Lawrence Palk in 1795. Notes Greeves' description of remains.
