Gallows Park, area of former Burrow Farm.(field name).

Jones, A., 2008, Gallows in the Landscape. Execution Sites in Devon, 72, 76-77 (Article in Serial). SDV344749.

Gallows Orchard adjacent to the River Exe, which forms the parish boundary between Stoke Canon and Brampford Speke, is probably named for the site a gallows which it is suggested was located in an area of open land to the west. A visible but what may be described as a marginal, liminial site at the junction of two or more parishes appears to be that typically chosen for the site of a gallows.
