A possible bridge toll house. A square, two storey building standing in the fork of the old and new Tiverton Roads, just to the east of the bridge. It was built between 1819 and 1826 (citing Sheldon 1933 and Kanefsky 1976).

In the fork of the old and new Tiverton roads just east of the bridge at Bampton. A square, two-storey building, with the door set at one side, built between 1819 and 1826 when the new Bampton road along the Exe valley was built.

Former toll-house. In use by 1819, possibly a bridge toll-house. Local stone rubble with a deep hipped slate roof and left end stack with stone shaft. Probably 1 room on plan with a single storey rear lean-to which may be a later addition.
Exterior: 2 storeys.2 bay asymmetrical front with a plinth and string course; C20 panelled front door to the right.2-light casement windows, 6-panes per light, the ground floor windows larger than the first floor, all with segmental stone arches with keystones.
The toll-house stands in a fork of the Old and New Tiverton Roads, overlooking Briton Street and the bridge over the River Batherm.
