Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A group of four sub-oval mounds, circa 32m long, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1986 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The earthworks have been interpreted elsewhere in this record as possible prehistoric barrows, although the nature of the visible earthworks would suggest more likely a geological origin. The earthworks have, nonetheless been transcribed given this uncertainty.

Somers Cocks, J. V., 27/11/1980, Four Areas in the Parish with Burrow or Bury Field Names (Correspondence). SDV279718.

On the Tithe Map and apportionment in 1839, four fields centred at SX854677 are called 'Thornbury'.
