Full description
Department of Environment, Lydford Castle (Schedule Document). SDV336883.
Visited in June 1955 & August 1956. A largely levelled bank running eastwards from the main road along the southern edge of the promontory to the corner of the vicarage garden. It may represent a portion of the pre-conquest defences (the original scheduled area was extended in August 1968. Part of Saxon Burghal defences which encompass the town. For other portions see PRNs 3242, 5594, 14317 & 14312.
