Summary

Parish church. Two pieces, together forming the complete stone, of an early christian inscription re-used as quoins in 19th century in the north aisle were recognised by s. Taylor. The probable reading is 'caoci fili poplici' datable to c.500 or 6th century (ralegh-radford).

Full description

Torr, C., Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV289613.

Two slabs in north chapel floor. One of grey marble formerly with brass, the other of white stone. Former inscribed: here lies richard cade abbot died 1482, latter: here lies father william 14th abbot. Possibly brought from torre abbey. Author goes on to confirm this hypothesis (torr).
