Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1978, SX69SW39 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV252709.

(07/02/1978) SX 6320 9275 Within an area of approximately 300m diameter there are 6 or more cairns mostly heather covered. They vary from 3m to 6m in diameter and from 0.3m to 0.6m in height. The largest has an excavation hollow in its fully exposed top of small boulders.

The Ivy Tor Water cairnfield, SX 631927, contains 7-10 cairns including at least one oval example. Most of the cairns lie to the west of the reave which runs northward from Ivy Tor Water to Skaigh Warren (SX 68 NW 65).

(17/02/1986) SX 6291 9271 Cairnfield 1250 metres south-east of Belstone. Cairns as follows:
Cairn '1'. 4 metres diameter, 0.5 metres high.
Cairn '2'. 4 metres diameter, 0.7 metres high.
Cairn '3'. 4.8 metres diameter, 0.8 metres high.
Cairn '4'. 3.6 metres diameter, 0.5 metres high.
Cairn '5'. 4 metres long by 2.6 metres wide orientated at 225 degrees. 0.8 metres high. Cut by leat.
Cairn '6'. 4 metres diameter, 0.4 metres high.
Cairn '7'. 4 metres diameter, 0.5 metres high.
Cairn '8'. 5.5 metres diameter, 0.7 metres high.
All mounds are grass, heather and gorse covered.

Cosdon Hill N. W. '10' cairnfield at SX629927 with at least 7 cairns of 3 to 4.5 metres diameter by 0.2 to 0.3 metres high located to the west of a length of reaveand on both sides of the 'leat' to the north -west of Cosdon Hill.
