Summary

A gorse covered cairn on the ridge crest overlooking the right bank of the River Lyd. It measures 12.0m in diameter and a maximum of 0.6m high with a flat top disturbed by an amorphous hollow 0.35m deep. There is no evidence to suggest the presence of a cist or kerb.

(26/04/1993) Ring cairn earthwork surviving as a circular bank, 3.4m wide and 0.3m high surrounding an internal area measuring 10m in diameter. A mound measuring 6m in diameter and 0.3m high stands in the centre of the area enclosed by the circular bank.

(01/03/1995) SX 53018559: A Bronze Age ring cairn and a rectangular building earthwork of probable Medieval or post-Medieval date were found at this location situated on a gentle east facing slope overlooking the valley of the River Lyd. The building earthwork may have been a Medieval or post-Medieval shelter for either shepherds, peat cutters or tinners.

SX 53038547. A gorse covered cairn on the ridge crest overlooking the right bank of the River Lyd. It measures 12.0m in diameter and a maximum of 0.6m high with a flat top disturbed by an amorphous hollow 0.35m deep. There is no evidence to suggest the presence of a cist or kerb.
The building described in 1995 lies some 150m to the east on the left bank of the River Lyd and remains un-investigated (citing Probert SAJ 09-NOV-2004 EH Field Investigation).
